Biography
Kristine Bratlie – Norwegian Composer & Piano Educator
Kristine Bratlie is a Norwegian composer, pianist and piano educator with her heart in her fingertips.
As a contemporary Scandinavian composer, her piano works are
performed by children and adults alike in music schools and concerts throughout Europe.
She holds a Master’s degree in Music Education and completed her studies at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo and the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, Austria.
She held a position as a pianist and piano educator at the Norwegian Academy of Music as well as at several municipal music schools.
She performs regularly in concerts and has received awards in piano competitions.
In 2002, Kristine founded her own music school in Lillestroem, Norway (Brawo Private Music School), which, with its 200 students and 16 teachers, became an important music institution in the Oslo region.
In 2012, she was awarded the Skedsmo Cultural Prize for her outstanding pedagogical work with children and young people.
Piano Sheet Music & Publications
She has published a substantial number of piano sheet music editions and collaborates with several music publishers, including Norsk Musikkforlag, Notposten, Gehrmans, Grahl & Nicklas, and Highland Music Publishing.
Her piano sheet music is widely used in European music schools and by private piano teachers.
Her contemporary piano music is available on Spotify and other streaming platforms, and her piano sheet music can be purchased from music retailers throughout Europe.
The Musikkfatet Method
Kristine is also a sought-after lecturer. Through her self-developed group piano teaching method, the Musikkfatet Method – a holistic group piano teaching approach – she inspires dedicated teachers toward a more joyful and sustainable teaching practice for both teacher and student.
The method represents a paradigm shift within piano pedagogy, emphasizing the development of the whole person through music while maintaining professional depth in piano education.
A book on the Musikkfatet Method is currently in preparation.
Villa Musika – Music School in Sweden
In 2019, Kristine moved to Sweden, where she now lives with her partner in the Smaland highlands. As a Sweden-based Norwegian composer and piano educator, she runs the music school Villa Musika, an inspiring meeting place offering piano and vocal lessons, choir, courses and concerts.
Kristine’s guiding principle is: Human growth and well-being through musical joy, inspiration and security – a foundation that permeates everything she does.
